The Five Americans

Dallas, Texas

With their shouted harmonies and organ-pumping attack, the Oklahoma-by-way-of-Dallas Five Americans beamed their way into the Top 40 in 1966 with the hammering "I See the Light" and again in 1967 with the even bigger blockbuster "Western Union." (The quintet's second LP for Abnak, Western Union/Sound of Love, was produced by rockabilly great Dale Hawkins.)
